Another Feature of the Wharf House is our visitors centre. Here we offer the opportunity to learn about the Canal basin and River we are surrounded by. We also stock local produce that we use in our Restaurant and Rooms as well as supporting local craftsmen and artists. Examples of their work are on display and for sale at The Wharf House.
The free visitor centre explores 750 years of the Leadon Valley, from the Roman Vineyards, the Civil War, willow growing and basketry, to the on-going restoration of the Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Canal. We have a model of the area before it was restored so visitors can see the context of where we sit on the changing and growing. The Visitors centre has available a variety of Books on sale and Leaflets that are all based on the area that we live in. This is hopefully generating interest in Gloucestershire and Herefordshire and the history surrounding the area. We have information about up and coming events as well as a huge variety of attractions in the area or even slightly further afield.
We are a great place to begin or end a walk from or even as a rest stop for those walking along the Canal and so we have many maps that can be used to get inspiration for an enjoyable walk of the area.
